Korn and an audience in a permanent state of euphoria equal one of this year’s best rockshows so far

I swear I did not see that one coming.

So let’s get right to it, and let me make it clear from the off, that nu metal veterans Korn played a blinder in Amager Bio. In a musical style that I otherwise would’ve said had reached its’ sell by date years ago.

Korn however are both veterans and leaders of this pack, and they’ve always been way more classy than P.O.D., Coal Chamber, Limp Bizkit and whoever else have tortured us in the name of "nu metal".

You can’t keep class and ability down though. From the moment Korn kicked off with "Falling Away From Me" this concert knew only one course and that course was "Up, up, UP!"

That fact went for practically every song this evening. If it was either the funky, freaky "Love & Meth" from Korn’s recent "The Paradigm Shift" or splendid sins from the past like "Freak On A Leash", "Shoots And Ladders" and "Got The Life" the band delivered everything vitally, convincingly and –not least – with downright and delightful catchiness.

The audience was in a state of euphoria from beginning to end. For 75 minutes the venue floor was transformed into a collective trampoline. Actually I have to pay my respect to whoever back in time constructed a floor that successfully could take this job on.

Up and away
Korn did deserve every jump and bopping head in the audience. This was a show that saw Korn confidently take the music from dark demonic depths to refrains that was pure pop sensibility.

Kept in score and played efficiently not least thanks to an excellent drummer (Ray Luzier, take a bow!) who drove everything safely home on a steady diet of swing, groove and breathtaking technical prowess.

Besides enjoying Korn for what they are, this show also served as a welcome reminder of Faith No More and Marilyn Manson in his heyday.

I can’t really fault anything here ...

... So I won’t.

En absolute blinder played by a band on top form!

There's people making babies to my music. That's nice.
